The place is very beautiful! Staff very nice, friendly and helpful. Deluxe room detached from hotel, overlooking the jungle and sea was very nice. Location is beautiful, the walk down to the main road is very beautiful and quiet. Also there is a really nice yoga studio very close by. The locals are very friendly. There are big monkeys and peacocks around.
This is a true gem. it is tucked away in a quiet part of Unawatuna, away from the noise and high up on a hill, catching the lovely breeze. It is run in a very professional but friendly manner. The food is superb, the staff are friendly and helpful and the rooms are very clean, yet different. There is a very nice pool. It is a real haven. We travelled with three small children and they were made most welcome. The staff catered for their every need. We had a tremendous experience here.
My wife and I stayed here for ten nights, it was one of the best hotels we have stayed in. The staff are happy and will do anything for you to make your stay more relaxing, if you want to unwind in a beautiful setting but still being close to Unawatuna beach and Galle this is the place to come. The food served at the restaurant is delicious.
The Horizon Hilltop Villa offers a perfect hideaway from the hustle and bustle of Unawatuna, we stayed for 6 nights on our recent trip to Sri Lanka and, honestly, could not have asked for more. Our room (104) benefited from a perfect vista of the swimming pool and over into the forest. We were blessed with views of morning mists,flying parakeets, Egrets nesting in the trees and the noisy (but entertaining) morning migration of Peacocks and Peahens. We also were visited by monkeys one morning who sat on the roof next to the restaurant and provided great entertainment.
Really enjoyed our 3 nights here. Very quiet away from the buzz of nearby Unawatuna & really comfortable. Monkeys & Peacocks in the trees outside our room was a treat. Staff were attentive & friendly. Nice walks in rural area on the doorstep but uphill walk back or free Tuk Tuk in my case ! Manager drew us a good map so we hired motor scooter nearby & did the country roads. Pool very refreshing & large enough for a few lengths Food was good although no big breakfast buffet. Dinner very good -quick service as we were only diners on 1 night
We spent five very happy nights in this hotel. Our room, which was upstairs, had a drop-dead view over the valley (facing away from the sea) from which we did some fine birdwatching. The pool is good, the breakfasts are good and the room itself is large, comfortable and has every amenity one could ask for. The bathroom, too, is modern, tasteful and large. The manager was very pro-active and helpful, without being pushy, and his staff were also very helpful and friendly. We recommend this hotel very strongly.
As soon as we arrived we knew we had chosen somewhere special and the 4 nights we stayed at Horizon were all memorable and a great testament to the smiling and engaging owner, Mahesh. All the staff are equally friendly and nothing is too much trouble. Local prices with Udesh by three wheeler to Galle and places nearby make travel pleasant and reliable. Walking the more peaceful back roads below the property is also great. We stayed in a separate unit with views over the sea and found it really pleasant and clean. There was plenty of hot water in the outdoor bathroom shower area and the bed was really comfortable. Horizon is real value for money from an owner and staff committed to making your time there as enjoyable as possible.
We are currently stayin at the hotel. It's only one more night and I am already missing it! The villa is beautiful, very! The surroundings, the peace, the location and it's so nicely decorated!!! They have taken care of every detail! The rooms are very big, with balcony and and a kind of a living room to chill. It's very relaxing! The breakfast is nice: fruit or juice, eggs or pancakes and off course tea or coffee. Perfect! Before comming, my husband said it was our anniversary and they prepsred the most romantic and beautiful decoration. I just loved it! And the pool.... I am lying in one sunbed right now and I'm in heaven!! See the pics!! It's located outside the beach area but it's very close by tuk tuk or motorbike. There's always one available at the front door or you can just rent a scooty as we did! Do not hesitate, come here for a relaxing and peaceful couple escape!
Situated in the hills near Unawatuna you find this beautiful hotel situated between the trees and a perfect view over the ocean. We stayed in a room separated of the 'big building'. A quiet well kept room with a nice surprise; the bathroom is outside of the room and in open air. If you do not like this then do not forget to book the right room. Everything is really clean and well maintained. The hotel has some sort of private shuttle service from the hotel to Unawattuna and Galle by Tuktuk. Usually the driver is already near the hotel or is there within a couple of minutes. For a fixed price (300 to Unawatuna and 500 to Galle) he will take you to your destination.
great location on a hill with sea views, lovely pool, and surrounded by jungle wildlife and birds. close to Galle, Unawatuna, etc. yet away from noisy traffic etc. Sea view room had wide panorama from veranda and private garden with abundant wildlife.
Perched on top of the hill, Horizon is an idyllic hotel with sea views on one side and tropical jungle on the other. There are only nine rooms, which means it is peaceful and no-one is clamouring for space by the beautiful pool. Please please ask for room 108 or make sure you've booked it beforehand. It is INCREDIBLE - set into the Rock with exposed hillside actually in the room and bathroom, it is cavernous - unlike anything we've ever stayed at before or probably will again, a truly memorable hotel room.
